This past weekend, I flew out to LA for a photography show. I was extremely nervous to go – mostly because I was going to be meeting people that I’ve known for years but never actually met in real life. I’ve never been more nervous to step on a plane than I was last Thursday. When I was getting my bag at LAX, I honestly thought about trying to get back on a plane to Minneapolis.

As I was waiting for my ride, I was on the phone with my friend Ethan making him talk me down from my ledge. When he had to hang up, I pleaded with him “Please don’t! I’m too scared! I should go home!”.

It ended up being OKAY though. Everyone I met was wonderful. They were loving, funny and fantastically nerdy. I felt like I was home. And goodness gracious, we had a ton of fun. Or at least I did (and I’m going to pretend that they did too).

So here are some photos from the weekend. I didn’t take that many, though. I figured with a room full of photographers, it would be better for me to try to not look like this constantly (completely sober, by the way):

On the first day, I met Mike Calanan (or Calananananananananana). He’s pretty awesome but his sunglasses were terrible. I really agree with his wife that he needs new ones. We share a ton of favorite music though, so I can’t totally hate him.

I visited the Getty museum which was pretty cool and had a great view (if this photo is too small, you should be able to see a bigger size by clicking on it). My nifty little point and shoot takes some sweet panoramas.

We then went to Santa Monica Pier which was awesome. This is Beebo Wallace in the picture. He’s got the cutest southern accent that I think I’ve ever heard.

We then had dinner and drinks, it was a pretty GREAT first day (but I won’t lie and say I wasn’t still nervous… :-) )

The next day was filled with beachin’ and barbequein’. I didn’t bring my big camera out much – I was just too lazy.  I hadn’t seen the Pacific ocean in 15 years! It was super exciting! And I hate that I can remember 15 years ago… ish. Anyway, people ate, drank and were merry. It was a super awesome day!

Then there was the show. It was EPIC! I didn’t take any photos. I fail. . .

Then there was the wedding. I again didn’t take any photos really. Except for these…

Here’s Dottie. She’s awesome. If you know her, you’re really lucky. She’s, like, wicked cool. And has a super awesome smile.

And then Dottie took photos of me and I think they’re really cute, so here. . .

and I WORE A DRESS!! (and I tried to model in it, which doesn’t seem to have worked out real well…)

And I did get one shot of the couple that I really liked – I mean, seriously, how cute are they?

All in all, it was an amazing weekend. I’m so thankful that I got the chance to go and that I even took that chance. I love you D’namur, Sande, Calanan, JakeRome, Dshalock, Beebo, Sadie, Trejack, Surfdude, Nikski, Rod, Dottie, Seraphim, Sara, Grumbles, Smoothie, Os, Shanny, Superchou, Annevi, JJ, Chia, Mercy and whoever else I just missed. You’re all lovely! And this post doesn’t do you justice. I might have to add another to make it complete.

As Beebo Wallace apparently says. . . THANK YOU!

Love,

Kellie

I went on vacation this past week to Salt Lake City, Utah. Boy howdy, it was PRETTY out there. I’m a BIG fan of mountains, tell you what.

This is at Great Salt Lake on a beautiful day.

Utah!

We also went to Snowbird Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We took a tram up to Hidden Peak which is 11,000 feet up. Oh, elevation… :)

Utah!

Utah’s Capitol building is pretty, well, pretty…

Utah!

Here’s my Mom at Great Salt Lake.

Utah!

Ignoring a little sickness (stupid colds!) and boredom (while my Mom was the library during the week), it was a great trip. But, obviously it had to have been when I saw beautiful scenes like this:

Utah!

WOW! : )
